Joan Bachleitner is Chief Strategy Officer of Ascension Wisconsin. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, she is responsible for developing overall market strategies and the strategic plan, identifying services to be offered and populations to be served, monitoring the competitive environment, leading strategic business development efforts including growth of existing service lines and creation of new ones, and evaluating risk-based arrangements and payers to approach for fee-for-value contracts. Joan is also responsible for assisting in the development of partnerships, leveraging market opportunities, setting strategy, achieving values-based results and leading organizational change. Prior to joining Ascension, Joan was System Vice President of Strategic Development for SSM Health’s Wisconsin Region, which includes Dean Medical Group, Dean Health Plan, St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital and St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Joan joined SSM Health in May 2009 and served in various regional and system-wide roles related to strategic planning, business development and mergers & acquisitions in both Madison as well as St. Louis. Joan has also worked as a commercial real estate attorney in Madison and Chicago, having earned her undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Wisconsin. Outside of the office, Joan enjoys kayaking, gardening, home improvement projects and spending time with her friends and family.
