Our student spotlight this month is Srinivasa Rangan Ramasamy!
Srinivasa Rangan is originally from Chennai, India and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology. Srinivasa Rangan began the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at the Wisconsin School of Business in September. Outside of his academic endeavors, he enjoys watching movies and being outdoors!
A Great Fit

After completing his undergraduate studies, Srinivasa Rangan began searching for a master’s program that focuses on teaching technical skills as well as the managerial aspect of business analytics. Given this, Srinivasa found the MSBA program here at UW to be a great fit.
The MSBA program will help Srinivasa Rangan prepare for his long-term career goal of working as a project manager following graduation. Specifically, he has found OTM 752, the course dedicated to project management that students take in their first semester of the program, to align well with the trajectory of his professional life. Additionally, he looks forward to elective classes with an emphasis on management, like OTM 701 and MHR 723, during his second semester in the program. He also appreciates that the technical courses are comprehensive in that they teach everything from the basics to high level skill development.
Though Srinivasa Rangan is just half-way through his journey with the MSBA program, he has found there to be many valuable learning opportunities thus far. He specifically enjoyed his Cloud Technology class where students dive into learning AWS.
Build Connections
Srinivasa Rangan’s advice to current and future students is to “focus on learning and networking” to best take advantage of your time in the MSBA program. Socializing and building connections with like-minded individuals, especially at our various events is a great way to expand on your classroom knowledge!
