Dark Data's Impact on Planning Processes for Businesses
About Ewelina
Ewelina Forker is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on the design of effective management control systems in joint human-machine decision-making, particularly in the context of organizational forecasting and planning. Prior to completing her doctoral degree at Emory University, Ewelina worked for over a decade leading manufacturing transformations at industry-leading firms in healthcare, IT, and oil & gas, including such organizations as GE and HP. Her work experience informs her research interests and enables her to engage in fruitful research collaborations with firms seeking to understand how best to incorporate new technologies to improve their planning processes, considering the interdependencies between human judgment and machine outputs as well as the influence of different incentive structures and performance measurement systems on managerial decision-making. Her research has earned awards and grants, including the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award and the Contemporary Developments in Technology Grant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. In recognition of her commitment to research, teaching, and service to the profession, Ewelina has earned several fellowships, including the Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Fellowship in 2022.
