Actuarial Profession Awareness

Actuarial Awareness Night

Our annual Actuarial Awareness Night offers an introduction to the actuarial profession and the actuarial science program at the Wisconsin School of Business. A Risk and Insurance faculty member and current students will facilitate the presentation and be on-hand to answer your questions. Info and Opportunities for High School Students

We encourage high school students, teachers, and guidance counselors learn more about the following opportunities our department offers.

Actuarial Career High School Presentations

Giving high school presentations allows us an opportunity to spread the knowledge of actuarial careers within the nearby community to strengthen the local talent of actuaries.

Presentations are given by Risk and Insurance faculty and students throughout the academic year and typically are requested for AP math classes or math clubs. We do our best to accommodate all schools that make requests, either by coming ourselves or sending a representative.

Visit the Future Members section of the Actuarial Club website to learn more information about requesting a presentation at your high school.

UW–Madison Actuarial Program Scholarship

Are you a good problem solver? Have you heard about “data science”? How about a career as an actuary! The UW-Madison Actuarial Program Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who shows promise and interest in an actuarial career.

A scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to the winner for the first year to study actuarial science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The award will be given to a high school senior based on quantitative aptitude and an expressed interest in actuarial science. Other awards may be given as well. After the first year, additional scholarships are available through the actuarial science program.
