Clare grew up in Chicago, IL and attended Tulane University in Louisiana where she completed her undergrad degree and majored in Marketing and Management. Prior to joining the MBA program, Clare worked at Cabrera Capital Markets, an investment bank and full service brokerage firm. At Cabrera, Clare worked in Taxable Fixed Income sales where she was responsible for managing Tier 1 – Tier 3 institutional clients, soliciting new business and converting prospects into revenue-generating accounts. As sales trader, Clare focused on client management, identifying new leads and managing the syndicate book for corporate bond new issuance. Clare also brings several transferable skills from her past digital marketing roles where she facilitated advertising and media ad campaigns and focused on data analytics and client management.
Clare joined the Women’s Rugby team while at Tulane University and it was during this experience that she learned important leadership lessons. She excelled on and off the field, and during her second year, she was voted to be team captain. She learned to be a leader who was dependable, honest and was known for her commitment to lead by example. She developed strong leadership skills and demonstrated those skills during high pressure matches. As captain, she was the only one allowed to communicate with the referees and make the decisive decisions needed for her teammates in the heat of the moment. Serving as captain allowed Clare to grow as a leader and learn to lead in high pressure environments, and she ultimately led the team to winning two national rugby championships!
MBA Experience & Career Goals
Clare chose to pursue her MBA at Wisconsin to advance her leadership skills and fill in the educational gap since she wasn’t a finance major in undergrad. Wisconsin appealed to her because of the smaller class size, rigorous curriculum, consulting projects and tight-knit alumni community. Clare wanted to gain the hands on experience that Wisconsin offered, while building close relationships with peers and faculty.
Clare is currently pursuing investment banking (IB) summer associate positions and her long-term goal is to become a managing director at an IB firm. She plans to leverage her current skills in the IB industry and looks forward to building relationships and working on detail oriented projects and deals. Clare has a passion for diversity, as she was the only woman on a team of 15 at her last role and knows this is common within financial services. Clare is a member of the Forte Foundation which is a community of women and business professionals which supports the next generation of women business leaders.
Clare’s first semester has been extremely busy and has moved far quicker than she had anticipated. Her fall semester has been filled with challenging courses such as Business Valuation, Financial Accounting, Data to Decisions and Financial Management to name a few. Clare has enjoyed it immensely and has learned so much. The pre-summer course work (Wall Street Prep) that her class completed this past summer prepared her the most since it allowed her to jump into the semester with a solid foundation of finance concepts.
Clare’s favorite part of the program so far has been the relationships she’s made, especially within the CFIB specialization. The Class of 2026 spend a lot of time together collaborating on projects and working together, which she has particularly enjoyed since she has learned so much from everyone’s varied career experiences. Clare currently serves as an MBA Ambassador where she assists the Admissions team in serving on panels and meeting with prospective students.
