Ellen Sexton is an accomplished executive across health care, manufacturing, and airline industries. Ellen’s leadership has a proven record of delivering growth, driving organizational transformation, and developing high performing businesses. She currently serves as Executive Vice President, Markets and Chief Growth Officer at Blue Shield of California overseeing growth and performance for commercial and consumer markets with 6 million members. Previously, Ellen was the Chief Operating Officer of Curative, a leading healthcare services company that launched the first of its kind employer-based health insurance plan. Prior to this role, as Chief Operating Officer of Humana’s Group business, Ellen led the growth platform for 15 million medical, dental, vision and life members. Ellen also served as the CEO for the UnitedHealthcare Wisconsin Medicaid Health plan, gaining recognition for clinical innovation resulting in market leading quality. Within UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare business, Ellen successfully transitioned state and employer group retiree healthcare programs and launched UnitedHealthcare’s Part D prescription drug program enrolling 5 million members. Ellen is highly collaborative and forward thinking as a Board Member with a wide range of service across the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation Board, healthcare start-up advisory roles and an appointment on the WI Governor’s Health Equity Council. Ellen has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
