About Christian

Christian Peters is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where his research and teaching explore how technology and data are transforming the accounting profession. He earned his PhD in Accounting (cum laude) from Tilburg University, and also holds degrees in BSc (IBA), MSc (Accounting), and MPhil (Business) from the same institution. He previously taught at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and was a short-term research visitor at Emory University.

Christian's research focuses among others on judgment and decision-making in auditing, primarily focusing on how emerging technologies (such as generative AI) are changing the auditing profession. He is also interested in corporate tax avoidance and its broader economic implications. His work has appeared in leading journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society and Contemporary Accounting Research, and has been featured in outlets such as the Financial Times. Christian currently serves on the editorial board of Accounting Open.

At UW–Madison, he teaches “Foundation in Accounting Analytics,” where he helps students develop the analytic mindset and technical skills needed to thrive in a data-driven profession. In his free time, Christian enjoys endurance sports and scuba diving.
