Thomas Byrne has been an executive leader, entrepreneur, advisor and early-stage venture investor within the real estate technology sector for more than two decades and is currently an active advisor & board member to companies at the intersection of real estate, innovation and AI.
Most recently, Tom was a venture advisor and co-head of CHC Venture Partners, the early-stage venture investing team of Crow Holdings. Tom began his real estate technology journey nearly 25 years ago as an executive with LoopNet creating the leading online commercial real estate marketplace. Tom served as President and Chief Operating Officer of LoopNet, one of the fastest-growing and the most profitable companies on the Nasdaq, before its strategic acquisition by the CoStar Group in 2012 for $900M. Tom helped steward the company thru key milestones including early profitability, revenue growth of 20x over 10 years, achieving EBITDA margins of 50+%, successful IPO, successfully integrating 8 acquisitions, raising $50 million PIPE investment, and the eventual sale to Costar.
Tom has also held board and advisory positions with many leading PropTech/FinTech companies including Dealpath (current), Homesnap, Crowdstreet, Rentlytics, DotLoop, Apto, PropertyCapsule, and VTS, and was an early investor in each of them. Prior to LoopNet, Tom served as Group Vice President of NextCard’s Secured Card business unit and held management positions at McKinsey & Company and Prudential Real Estate Group. Tom holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. of Electrical Engineering, with highest honors, from Georgia Tech.
