The student org, formally called the AI Hub @ WSB Club, is now rebranding to the Business AI Collective (BAIC). This school year, their focus is to bring more hands-on experiences with AI so that their members will have specific skills and projects for developing and demonstrating their AI expertise.
Consulting Projects
Part of being more hands-on in applied AI is giving the group opportunities to address real business problems. The group is looking to take on external consulting projects where a client has a real AI problem that needs research and planning. They do discovery, research the space, and deliver a concrete proposed plan, including what tools to use, how to implement, and what to prioritize. Nonprofits, local organizations, campus groups, small businesses, startups, and research labs will be given priority. Every project must have a clear problem, a willing point of contact on the client side, and a defined end state before we accept it. The students’ commitment is for one semester. Upon completion, every project will have the following deliverables: a project brief and scoping document, a research summary, a proposed plan, and a presentation deck. Some projects, depending on the team, will complete a working prototype. The deadline to submit a project for consideration is September 18th.
Workshops and Speakers
Last semester, the group brought in over 12 industry speakers from companies including Snapchat, Google, and 3M. This semester, they will continue to bring in speakers and add interactive workshops for hands-on AI building and application. Workshops and talks will be held Monday at 6:00 in Grainger Hall. Tech Trek
In November, the group will go to Chicago to visit companies that both build AI products and use innovative AI applications. By meeting professionals working in these spaces, students will gain a new perspective that will inform where they will want to go after graduation. If you are a student who is interested in participating, save the dates for November 5th and 6th.
September 14th will be the club’s official kickoff for Fall 2026. For students interested in being a part of the org, plan to meet from 6- 7 p.m. More details, including the room number, will be posted to the club’s Instagram @businessaicollective.
