Horizon was founded by Charles (Chuck) Heath in 1984 as a real estate development company. Today, Horizon has grown to design, build and manage commercial, retail, residential, industrial real estate and indoor water resorts. Under Chuck’s leadership, the Company successfully developed property valued at more than $500 million. Horizon’s project portfolio includes office, retail, multifamily apartments, master planned neighborhoods, hotels and indoor water resorts. Chuck served as CEO of Horizon until 2011 when he retired. However, he continues to serve as Principal Emeritus and advises on strategic planning and business development.
Chuck is a past member of the National Council on Seniors Housing (NCOSH) Board of Trustees and former chairman of the NCOSH Finance Committee, an affiliate of the NAHB. He has served on many committees and boards for leading organizations, including the Wisconsin Housing & Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), the NAHB and the American Association of Home and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), and the World Waterpark Association, Chief Executives Organization, and an advisory board member of the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate.
Chuck graduated with both a BS degree in Business and his MS degree in Real Estate and Investment Analysis in 1983 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He studied under the late Dr. James Graaskamp and continues his relationship with the University as a guest lecturer. He is an active participant with the University of Wisconsin Real Estate Club and the Real Estate Alumni Group.
