Joseph W. Boucher is a founding shareholder of the Madison law firm of Neider & Boucher, S.C. His practice emphasizes business legal planning for closely held businesses. Mr. Boucher represents businesses across various industries.
Boucher received a B.A. from St. Norbert College and his JD and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mr. Boucher is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Boucher is a co-drafter of the original Chapter 183 for LLCs, the amendments to Chapter 183, the Next Economy Legislation of 2002, and participated in drafting the limited liability partnership law. He is a co-author of Organizing a Wisconsin Business Corporation, and the LLC’s and LLP’s: a Wisconsin Handbook. He has co-authored several articles in the Wisconsin Lawyer since 1993 with the most recent including August Vol. 81 No. 8, summarizing recent LLC developments and September 2005 Wisconsin Lawyer, Vol. 78, no. 9, on the Gottsacker case; the first case on limited liability companies.
Since 2005 he has been named a Wisconsin Super Lawyer and Madison Magazine has consistently named him as one of Madison’s leading business attorneys. In 2005 and 1993, the Wisconsin Small Business Administration named him the Wisconsin Small Business Advocate. In 2004, St. Norbert College named him a distinguished alumni.
For many years, Mr. Boucher has served on non-profit boards including chairing the Board of Trustees for Edgewood High School from 2001-2003.
Mr. Boucher has been married for over 31 years to Atty. Susan De Groot. They have 3 adult children.
