Michael Barr is a Managing Partner of Cross Lake Partners, a middle market real estate investment firm based in New York. Cross Lake Partners was founded in June 2018 by the former real estate private equity team at Paulson & Co. and currently has approximately $1 billion in assets under management. Cross Lake Partners pursues an opportunistic and disciplined approach to investing in the growing sunbelt markets of the U.S.
From 2008 through 2018, Mr. Barr was the Portfolio Manager of the Paulson Real Estate Funds, responsible for establishing and building all aspects of Paulson & Co.’s real estate investment activities.
From 2001 through mid-2008, Mr. Barr worked within the Lehman Brothers Real Estate Private Equity Group, serving as a Managing Director of the firm and a principal of Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners. In this capacity, he was responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing transactions throughout the U.S. and across all asset classes. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Barr was a principal and a member of the Investment Committee at Westbrook Partners, a real estate private equity fund manager founded by Tiger Management Corporation. He began his career in the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he participated in numerous financing and advisory assignments for public and private real estate companies.
Mr. Barr received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1992. He previously was a board member of Extended Stay Hotels, William Lyon Homes, Gables Residential Trust and Tishman Hotel & Realty.
