Patrick Halter is the retired President and CEO of Principal Asset Management, a global investment management business under the Principal Financial Group. Over a career spanning 40 years, Halter was instrumental in transforming the firm into a premier global asset manager, notably building a team of 850 investment professionals serving clients in 80 markets and continuously recognized by Pension & Investments as “Best Places to Work in Money Management”. He first joined Principal in 1984 in the commercial real estate division and eventually served as CEO of Principal Real Estate Investors from 2003 to 2018. The real estate business becoming one of the largest in the world.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Halter was active in the investment industry, serving on the boards of 15 investment boutiques and the Principal Mutual fund board. He was also a member of the Board of Governors for the Investment Company Institute and a past Chairman of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM). An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin -Madison, where he earned both a bachelors degree and a MBA in Finance.
