This past weekend, three UW Supply Chain Students, Breanna Schneider, Allison Michaels, and Maren Seefluth, traveled with faculty member Pete Lukszys to the University of Arkansas to partake in the Women Impacting Supply Chain Excellence (WISE) Future Leaders Symposium. This two day symposium was attended by over 200 students, faculty, and professionals and allowed female students across the U.S. to come together and learn about supply chain as an industry.

The symposium kicked off at J.B. Hunt where President Shelley Simpson was a keynote speaker and participants were able to mingle and get to know each other better. The next stop was at the Sam’s Club home office, where CEO Kath McLay gave participants advice and talked about her career journey. Chief Merchant Megan Crozier also spoke, followed by a panel of young professionals. Throughout the rest of the day students heard from a variety of companies including Uber freight, Johnson & Johnson, and more.

The next day was hosted at the University of Arkansas campus and consisted of speakers, breakout sessions, and networking. The CSCO of Ulta Beauty, Amiee Bayer-Thomas, kicked off the event followed by a panel discussion about mentoring relationships.

The students had a blast at the event and returned to Wisconsin on Sunday.
