The number of Black individuals represented in upper management/leadership at the corporate level in business is still significantly low, according to the Harvard Business Review. Particularly, the Harvard Business Review highlights that there are several barriers that hinder the progress of Black individuals looking to move to upper management and into leadership roles. One of the key issues that hinders Black progress in leadership and upper management, is gaining an introduction to the board. Mentorship through networking opportunities is an essential way for companies to support their Black employees in their trajectory towards upper management.
