Business and Math (BAM) Bridge Program
Thursday, August 20 | 9:00am – Thursday, August 27 | 4:30pm

Build your math confidence. Start your business journey a step ahead.
The Business and Math (BAM) Bridge program is an early-start program for incoming first year students, built to boost your math skills and set you up for success in your first semester of math at UW–Madison and beyond.
In the program, you will:
- Refresh and strengthen your math skills.
- Meet and learn from UW–Madison instructors and clued into campus resources
. - Gain access to ALEKS, an online math skill development program.
- Participate in a mini business case competition.
- Build connections with other first year students.
- Retake the placement exam on the final day—and hopefully improve your score!
With a higher placement score, you can enroll in a more advanced math course and set you up for a stronger start to your college career. Business is a quantitative field, and we want you to thrive in math during your time at UW–Madison.
Ready to improve your math placement?
Register using the form linked below by August 1! (Late submissions are not accepted.)
When you sign up, you’ll receive a confirmation email and an email containing your ALEKS program license to help you prepare ahead of the program. Please watch your wisc.edu email in July/early August for next steps.

Set yourself up for success with ALEKS
When you sign up for BAM, you’ll gain access to an online math skill development program called ALEKS. This program will help you brush up on your skills so you’re ready to take on the pre-calculus curriculum covered in BAM.
We will be hosting several virtual Q&A sessions about ALEKS. These sessions will take place on Zoom:
- Tuesday, June 16 | 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 1 | 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Friday, July 17 | 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
Access the Zoom sessions here!
Do not re-take the placement exam before attending BAM.
You only get one opportunity to re-take the math placement exam. To maximize your chance of placing into a higher course, please save your re-try for the final day of BAM.
Have questions about your math placement and/or re-taking the exam? Ask your academic advisor at SOAR.
