Wisconsin Invitational Consulting Case Competition

Are you ready to showcase your consulting skills and compete against the best? Join teams from the nation’s top undergraduate business schools to compete in the third annual Wisconsin Invitational Consulting Case Competition hosted by the Wisconsin School of Business at UW-Madison.

Participating teams will have the opportunity to:

  • Compete in front of a panel of judges
  • Network with top consulting employers such as Accenture, Deloitte, and more
  • Benefit from case interview and recruiting preparation
  • Win team prize money up to $4,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place and $1,000 for fourth place

Team Information

Team Requirements

  • Teams should be made up of four undergraduate business or consulting students.
  • Teams are required to have a staff contact from their school’s career center. This staff will serve as a point of contact for our team to connect with regarding event communications, post-event photos, prize money documentation and distribution information. Note, staff members are not required to attend the event in-person with the team.
  • Ability to travel in-person to Madison, Wisconsin, April 9-10, 2027.

To apply, please confirm all above requirements are met. Have the following readily available to complete the application:

  • All four team members’ contact information including:
    • Name, email, preferred pronouns, anticipated graduation date, majors
  • Career Services professional staff contact
    • Name, email, title/department
  • Combined PDF of all team members’ resumes
    • Please note that resumes will be shared with event sponsors as they are submitted
  • Short answer response to the following two questions:
    • What motivates your team to represent your school in front of top consulting employers at this competition?
    • Please describe previous case competition experience that the members of your team have.

Applications will open in January 2027.

Travel Schedule

Please plan your travel accordingly to accommodate the following times:

  • Friday, April 9, plan to check-in for the event at Grainger Hall between 5:00 – 6:30 pm.
  • Saturday, April 10, the event ends at 5:00 pm. UW-Madison is approximately 30 minutes away from the Dane County Airport.

Lodging

Two rooms for one-night, will be provided to each traveling competing team at the DoubleTree by Hilton Madison Downtown.

  • Check-in: Friday, April 9, 2027
  • Check-out: Saturday, April 10, 2027
  • Rooms provided will have two-queen beds. Additional rooms may be reserved for each team or traveling staff member, but will not be covered by the Invitational. After your team has been accepted, please inquire with the planning team if you need to extend your reservation or add rooms.

Meals

All meals will be provided including dinner Friday, April 9; breakfast, lunch and an appetizer reception on Saturday, April 10.

Parking

Parking may be requested by competing traveling teams in the acceptance form. Up to one parking voucher will be provided to each team as requested for the hotel parking lot.

Employer Showcase | Friday, April 9 | 5:30 – 6:30 pm

During the Employer Showcase you will have a change to network with sponsors in a career-fair style event. Each sponsor will be tabling and available to discuss consulting career pathways at their respective companies, personal career journeys, recruiting, etc. This portion of the Invitational will be open to all competing teams and all Wisconsin School of Business students.

Welcome Dinner and Tailgate Reception

Sponsors will be seated with you during the Welcome Dinner, Friday night. Come prepared to network with them in a unique dining setting. On Saturday afternoon open networking will take place during the Tailgate Reception. Use this time to get in last-chance conversations and connections.

Case Interview Prep Workshop | Saturday, April 10 | Lunch

Join Wisconsin School of Business professor, Tom Burkard (Erdman Center Director of Consulting) for a workshop to review all aspects of a case interview. This workshop is recommended for participants who are new to case interviewing.

Limited to two sponsors. This level provides the highest visibility throughout the competition, including pre‑event engagement, on‑site interaction, and premium branding.

Friday, April 9 | 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Grainger Hall Gold and State Street Silver sponsors will have the opportunity to connect 1:1 with Wisconsin School of Business students through Coffee Chats. This opportunity is available pre-event for non-competing UW students. Coffee chats will be scheduled through Handshake and take place in the Career Engagement Studio, Grainger 3290.

Optional Add-On: Crescendo Coffee Cart – Gold and Silver sponsors may add a made‑to‑order coffee cart during Friday coffee chats $2,000 (limited to one sponsor) 

Friday, April 9 | 5:30 – 6:30 pm

During the Employer Showcase sponsors have a chance to connect with top business students in a career-fair style event. Each sponsor will have a tabling opportunity and students will navigate the room to network. Sponsors should be prepared to discuss consulting career pathways at their respective companies, personal career journeys, recruiting, etc. This portion of the Invitational will only be open to competing teams.

Judges

  • Judges may differ from Friday representative(s) 
  • All judges must be available for the full competition day 
  • Final‑round judges are selected on‑site 
  • Judges should be well‑versed in consulting to evaluate presentations effectively 

First Round | Saturday, April 10 | 8:00 am – 12:30 pm

As a judge you will work with other sponsor representatives and score up to five team presentations during the first round. After presentations, judges will debrief to select the top teams to present in the final round. Debrief includes a boxed lunch. One judge from each room will be nominated to participate in the final round of judging.

Final Round | Saturday, April 10 | 1:00 – 4:30 pm

Final round presentations are open to the entire Invitational audience. The final round of judging will be limited to one representative from each sponsor, with no more than four judges. Following the final presentations, guests will participate in a Tailgate Reception while judges debrief to award the top teams. Final round judges will help present final awards.
