As we welcome our 2025-26 Master of Science in Business Analytics cohort, we are excited to kick off our series of student spotlights with Chuck Steffen!
Originally from Eagan, Minnesota, Chuck began his journey as a Badger receiving undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Data Science. This laid the foundation for his interest in analytics, and once he narrowed his focus to careers within the data science space, he chose to extend his time in Madison with the highly ranked MSBA program.
Building a Business Lens
With hopes of securing a position in data engineering, data analytics, or project management upon graduation, Chuck looks forward to adding a business perspective to his credentials and experience. “I heard great things about the program through friends and information meetings and decided to give it a shot!” shares Chuck. He has already found the coursework to be instrumental in translating the skills from his tech background to various business applications.
Community Connections
Though Chuck is just beginning his MSBA journey, he has already noted that the “people, the professors, and the food” stand out. He advises current and future students to take full advantage of the MSBA community and “talk to professors, talk to students, and always ask questions!”
Outside of Grainger, you might find Chuck hiking, lifting, swimming, or triathlon training. The program is thrilled to have you, Chuck, and we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish this year and beyond!
