The Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship would like to extend a warm welcome to Chris Hornung, Co-Founder of Sturbridge Capital and our 2022 inductee for the Weinert Center Hall of Fame. This award was developed to recognize the gold standard for entrepreneurs affiliated with the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship and is the highest achievement which can be received. Chris is being recognized for his exceptional achievements and contributions to the Weinert Center and broader Wisconsin entrepreneurial community. Chris is the 14th inductee since the creation of the award in 2003. Dan Olszewski, Director of the Weinert Center, presented Chris with the award during the Weinert Center Luncheon after the annual WAVE Board meeting. The luncheon and board meeting were attended by UW students, faculty, program alumni, and our distinguished board members.
Chris Hornung has been an entrepreneur from a young age, starting Pacific Cycle during his senior year at UW-Madison. He was able to grow Pacific Cycle to an international company over the course of 30 years, acquiring competitors along the way. Chris sold Pacific Cycle in 2004, remaining CEO before retiring in 2008. After retiring, Chris still remained active in the entrepreneurial community, taking board member positions at Windpoint Partners and Methode Electronics. In 2011, Chris co-founded Sturbridge Capital, a private equity firm focused on funds-of-funds, secondary funds, and tail-end funds.
A member of the Weinert Center Advisory Board since 2002, Chris has played an instrumental role in mentoring students and helping them develop their own business ideas. Join me in congratulating Chris on his many accomplishments and induction into the Weinert Center Hall of Fame!
