The Wisconsin School of Business will begin the next phase of its multi-year renovation project this fall, continuing efforts to reimagine how Business Badgers connect and collaborate within Grainger Hall.
Known as the Badger Blueprint, the project will ultimately transform more than 31,000 square feet of space. The first two phases introduced reimagined lecture halls and study areas, the new Leske Admissions Center, and modernized workspaces for staff. Now, phase three will focus on the building’s first floor, adding new gathering areas, collaborative workspaces, and improved dining options.
“This phase is all about community and connection,” said Tim Bent Jr., facilities project manager. “We’re creating spaces with the flexibility to support everything from academics and events to building networks and casual interactions.”
New Spaces, New Possibilities
Signature additions will anchor the renovation including the Mansukhani Family Atrium (The M), a central, light-filled space designed for both informal gathering and campus events, and the Stephen L. Hawk Memorial Terrace, an outdoor, rooftop space offering a serene place to host events, study, or recharge.
Throughout the renovation, new AV tools and technology infrastructure will power more efficient work, research, and learning in redesigned areas for learning and instruction. Small-group spaces and comfortable lounges throughout the building will foster community and collaboration. The renovation also prioritizes accessibility and flexibility, removing barriers and creating spaces that can adapt to multiple purposes.
Fresh Dining Options
Business Badgers and the broader campus community will have new ways to fuel up without sacrificing taste, time, or quality. The High Kicks Café—featuring Starbucks—will anchor new dining offerings, alongside a convenience market and The Halal Shack, a fast-casual restaurant with globally inspired cuisine.
A Vision for the Future
At its core, phase three of the Badger Blueprint aims to deliver an exceptional student experience through spaces adapted to how students learn and work today.
“The Badger Blueprint represents a unique partnership between WSB, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and generous donors, all united by a bold vision for the future of business education,” said Vallabh Sambamurthy, the Albert O. Nicholas Dean of the Wisconsin School of Business. “These spaces will serve as a proving ground for transformational student experiences—where Business Badgers and corporate partners can come together to solve real-world challenges and lead change across industries and communities.”
Phase three begins this fall and continues through Fall 2026.
