Greg Neidhart

Professor - Music / Arts Administration

Winona State University

Greg Neidhart is a professor at Winona State University in the Music Department where he coordinates the music business major and teaches courses in film music, music theory, music business, and arts administration. Greg also serves as the director of WSU’s Arts Administration program and previously served as chairperson of the Department of Art and Design from 2015 to 2017. Currently, he serves as a board member of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and the Winona Arts & Culture Strategic Planning Steering Committee, and is past president of the Winona Symphony Orchestra and co-chair of the Winona Fine Arts Commission.

Earlier in his career, Greg worked in the Literary Department at the Off-Broadway theater Circle Repertory Company and in the Film & Television Department at Curtis Brown, Ltd, a literary agency in New York.

As a former naval officer, his assignments include Navigator and Communications Officer onboard USS Savannah, Analyst and Plans Officer at Headquarters, Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Command in Hawaii, and Deputy Director of the Friendly Forces Coordination Center at Headquarters, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain.

As a composer, his most recent work includes musical scores for the Commonweal Theatre Company’s production of The Master Builder and the Rochester Civic Theatre’s production of August: Osage County. Greg studied at Ball State University (BS, Music Education and Music Theory & Composition), Indiana University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MA, Arts Administration), and the University of Arizona (MFA, Dramatic Arts: Dramatic Writing).
