WSB Celebrates Consortium with 50th Anniversary Reunion

By Betsy Lundgren

December 16, 2016

A trailblazing alumnus who made history as the first Consortium graduate. A former marine who helps recruit veterans into the Wisconsin MBA program. A founding partnership that has grown into a nationwide alliance of 18 schools.

These stories from the Wisconsin School of Business illustrate a small fraction of the impact The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management has made in the 50 years since its founding, showcasing some of the 685 individuals who have received their Wisconsin MBA as Consortium fellows.

The Consortium’s 50th anniversary provides cause for celebration, both in honoring the Wisconsin School of Business’s role as one of three founding members in 1966, and in recognizing the importance of The Consortium’s mission of enhancing diversity in business education and corporate leadership by providing postgraduate opportunities for underrepresented minorities.

Gathering in reunion

The School hosted a 50th anniversary reunion in November 2016 during Homecoming weekend, inviting Wisconsin MBA Consortium students and alumni for an evening of celebration and networking.

“The opportunity to gather Consortium Badgers was tremendously valued, especially on this 50th anniversary occasion,” says Blair Nelson Sanford, assistant dean of the Wisconsin Full-Time MBA Program. “Wisconsin has long understood the importance of diversity in business and education. Our commitment to diversity in 2016 is just as strong as it was in 1966, and we look forward to continuing our Consortium partnership for many years to come.”
