Business Learning Commons Changes next fall

Business Badgers,

We want to make you aware of several upcoming changes to library services in Grainger Hall that may affect how you access study spaces, materials, and support.

The campus library system is transitioning certain services away from the Business Library, including the removal of the physical print collection from Grainger. While this is a significant shift, many core resources and spaces you rely on will remain available.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The print collection, physical reserves, and pick-up/drop-off services will not be available at Grainger starting June 1. You can still access print collections and circulation services through other campus libraries—including Memorial Library, College Library, and MERIT Library.
  • InfoLab laptops and other equipment will no longer be available in the Learning Commons. You can find Infolabs and similar equipment at MERIT Library, College Library, and the Memorial Library, which are just a few blocks from Grainger Hall.
  • Computer and printing services will remain available.
  • Study rooms (aka breakout rooms) in the Learning Commons will be unlocked for drop-in use. You can still reserve rooms the same way you do now, and reservations will always take priority.
  • Learning Commons hours for Fall 2026 will stay the same as Spring 2026.
  • Over the summer and into the fall, additional individual-study seating will be available. The Brooks Street Study Area will remain available.
  • Professional library staff will continue to be onsite in the Learning Commons and remain available for research assistance and library services consultations.

We know these changes may raise questions about how this space will evolve. Conversations about the future uses of the Learning Commons and related areas are underway, including ongoing discussions with the Undergraduate Business Council.

For the most up-to-date information, please visit the Business Library website and the campus library transition site.

We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate this transition together.
