The StartUp Learning Community loves to brag about its alumni. From their enthusiasm in applying for Dream Big grant awards, to their desire to engage in faculty research from the get go, to the campus leadership roles they take on, StartUp students do amazing things both on and off the floor.
This year the StartUp Leadership team has one more reason to be proud. We are exceptionally excited to announce that one of our learning community alumni, Nick Peterson, has won the prestigious Robert W. Pricer Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Scholarship Award from the Wisconsin School of Business. This $2,500 scholarship was endowed by James Weinert upon Bob Pricer’s retirement in 2002 and is earmarked to provide support to a rising senior who is studying entrepreneurship and committed to furthering the entrepreneurial spirit on campus.
Nick, a Computer Sciences major who is earning a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, was active in the StartUp Learning Community from day one. He is among a handful of students to ever receive two independent Dream Big grants for his freshman year venture, Parfaitt—a voice lobby-based remote work management platform.
Since moving off the floor, Nick has continued to demonstrate his unbridled passion for the startup world. Most recently he is a co-founder of Paladin 1, an incubator dedicated to creating new startups with shared financial and human capital. Paladin’s first project is the development of Omen, an augmented reality video game quantifying and gamifying life. He’s also been active in the launch of Innovators Coalition and served as a student mentor for our Spring StartUp Seminar, MHR 321–Social Entrepreneurship.
Join us in congratulating Nick on winning this prestigious scholarship. We are thrilled–but never surprised–when yet another StartUp alum does something impressive.
