The end of the school year is always a bittersweet time for most of us. As we are excited to see the students take another step in their journey of life, we reflect on the time we have spent with them and will truly miss seeing them on a daily basis.
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize and announce the students that received awards from us this year as well as say goodbye to our Fellowship and WAVE Students.
While the COVID-19 virus was still with us during the academic year, our resilient administrators, faculty, staff, and students have continued to adapt to the ever-changing environment and finished the semester on a high note. As the spring semester at UW-Madison ends, we want to acknowledge students’ outstanding accomplishments.
For the third year in a row, we are proud to have Live Undiscovered Music (also known as LÜM) sponsor this award. The purpose is to provide scholarship support to an undergraduate student seeking a degree or certificate in entrepreneurship. This year’s LÜM Scholarship is presented to Albert Elston, Jr. who will be graduating in December 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Finance and a certificate in entrepreneurship. He successfully launched a new student organization called ImpactVC which has grown to be a very active organization that includes a speaker series and mentors for members. He also interned at Kapor Capital and the AmFam Institute. He was also a recipient of the Posse Foundation scholarship and was a TA for two consumer science courses. He is also working in the newly established Entrepreneurship Science Lab.
Alan C. Filley Outstanding Undergraduate Award
Al Filley was a professor of management in the Wisconsin School of Business from 1961 to 1998. Professors Al Filley, Bob Pricer and Jon Udell established what is now known as the Weinert Center. Professor Filley was a master teacher who is remembered by countless former students who were inspired by him to become successful business owners. This award honors his contributions to entrepreneurship. This year’s recipient of the Alan C. Filley Outstanding Undergraduate Award is Yatin Sangwan who is working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in computer sciences and plans to graduate in May 2022. He is working in the Entrepreneurship Science Lab and is also the Founder and CEO of Canvasly, art company with > $2,000,000 in annual revenue.

Jon & Susan created a scholarship to be awarded to an MBA candidate that has a passion for entrepreneurship. This scholarship will assist in providing financial support through the student’s last year of study.
