The Chancellor’s Entrepreneurial Achievement Award is given to individuals with ties to the University of Wisconsin-Madison who have achieved excellence in entrepreneurship towards the Wisconsin Idea: significant contributions to economic growth, social good, and the empowerment of the community.

Fetch is now the fastest-growing digital loyalty and marketing platform in the U.S. and has climbed to the top of the industry as a ‘unicorn’ through its status as a privately held startup valued at more than $1 billion. Across the app and online interface, Fetch has amassed more than 17 million users, valued at nearly $3 billion, employing more than 700 employees, and conducting business in offices in Madison, Chicago, New York City, Boston, and Birmingham.
The pair created their business plan from a class project, going on to enter various business startup competitions around the country, and ultimately launching their company in 2013.
Aside from the Fetch duo was Anne Smith who co-founded the UW Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic in 2009 which engages law students to provide pro-bono services to early-stage Wisconsin companies. This clinic has become one of UW Law School’s most popular skills-course offerings.
As a founding board member of StartingBlock Madison, Anne has been an active participant in uplifting local entrepreneurs. Since its creating, StartingBlock’s 125 participants have raised more than $7 million since its creation in 2014.
The last award recipient was Winslow L. Sargeant, an electrical engineer who has served on the board of trustees for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Morgridge Institute for Research and Northeastern University. He also serves on the advisory council of Madison’s Center for Black Excellence and Culture.
It’s clear that every individual recognized is incredibly deserving of this award. Congratulations to all that were honored!
