April 30, 2026

The Class of 2026 is prepared for what’s next. As these graduates transition from the classroom to the workforce, their successes and setbacks offer meaningful guidance for the Business Badgers who will follow.

Among them, Bella Shim, a double major in Real Estate and Management & Human Resources, stands out as a student whose Wisconsin journey has been shaped by strong leadership and a commitment to community. Throughout her four years at the Wisconsin School of Business, Bella held key roles in the Real Estate Club, Women in Business, and the UW Club Gymnastics Team, consistently working to strengthen student connections and support her peers. This spring, she will also serve as the student speaker for the BBA Graduation Celebration, reflecting on how the support and challenges she experienced at Wisconsin inspire her to uplift the next generation of Business Badgers.

How has your understanding of leadership evolved since your time at WSB?

Through experiences like leadership at Lambeau, the different badge workshops, my work at the career engagement studio and group projects has really allowed me to grow my definition of leadership. To me, leadership is not about being the loudest in the room. It’s about listening, valuing others’ perspectives and building on ideas together.

In practice, this looks like having a voice without shutting down others’ voices, and being able to create a space for different perspectives and making the team better as a whole.

My biggest takeaway is that everyone brings a different background of perspective. So being a strong leader means learning from the people around you and not just leading them.
