Puelicher Center Scholarship

The Puelicher Center is offering several scholarships between $1000 and $2500/yr to students interested in careers in the financial service sector. To be eligible, students must:

Be juniors or seniors in the School of Business

Have a strong interest in a career in banking, insurance, investments or financial planning

Chris M. Bauer Undergraduate Scholarship

The Puelicher Center is offering several scholarships between $500 and $2000/yr to students interested in careers in the financial service sector. To be eligible, students must:

Be juniors or seniors in the School of Business

Have a strong interest in commercial banking and or financial intermediary services

Eligibility

To qualify for undergraduate Puelicher Center Scholarships, students must plan on taking Finance 410 and Finance 610 as part of their program. Non-finance majors are eligible as long as they take Finance 410 and Finance 610.

The following course descriptions are subject to change. For official course listings, refer to the UW–Madison Online Course Catalog:

410 Bank Management . I, SS; 3 cr: Management of depository financial intermediaries, with primary emphasis on commercial banks. Topics include bank regulation, liquidity and reserve position management, loan pricing and analysis, investment portfolio problems and overall asset liability management.

610 Bank Simulation and Strategy. I SS; 3 cr: Covers advanced asset-liability, hedging, tax minimization, merger/acquisitions and economic value added strategies for depository financial institutions. Students practice these strategies by managing their own bank in computer simulation model, merging with or acquiring other students’ banks using M&A software, and by playing a foreign exchange trading simulation.
