Location:
Chicago, IL
Current Job Title:
Surgical Truama ICU nurse at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center
Post-MBA career goal:
My post-graduation career goal consists of utilizing my current and future knowledge of pharmaceuticals and high-quality patient care coupled with my love for meeting new people to seek a role in product management in a biomedical company. This brings my experiences of vaccine research throughout my cellular biology education and my health care background as an emergency and surgical trauma ICU nurse full circle. It also allows me to still impact patient lives while giving me more opportunity to provide for my family. My wife is German and wants to move closer to family so my goal is to obtain a U.S. based job that would allow the flexibility for us to live overseas.
Why choose Wisconsin MBA?
Having grown up in small town Wisconsin, raised by a single mother, I have witnessed the value of hard work and sacrifice. My mom sacrificed time and time again for myself and my two siblings – her time, her energy, and her hard earned “extra” income. She turned down college to stay home and raise us while working overtime every day, though we had very little growing up. I struggled in school growing up, however, I was driven to attend college. The reason being that I wanted to have a better life with less struggle than I experienced growing up, for myself and my future family. During my undergraduate studies, I joined the Army National Guard as I learned that they pay for tuition and to develop leadership skills. I attended Wisconsin’s nursing program and was over the moon and learned how incredible the faculty and staff are, how many resources you have at your disposal being here, and the quality of education you receive. Several years later, I found the Professional MBA program and saw that it is broad. So, coming from no business experience, I wanted exposure to as many elements as possible, which this program provides. Furthermore, because of my previous experience with UW-Madison, I knew and trusted that my investment in the school would result in making me a phenomenal leader and help open many doors and allow for personal growth and progress.
