Kim Truong is a 2016 graduate of the Wisconsin School of Business MBA Program.

In 2014, she enrolled in the MBA program with a concentration in strategic HR and was recruited by Starbucks through the Consortium’s annual diversity conference. After completing a successful internship within the Starbucks compensation team in 2015, she was offered a full-time position to return to Starbucks upon graduating in 2016.

Since earning her MBA from the School of Business, Kim has continued to develop her HR career journey. During her 7-year tenure, she has served as a compensation consultant within Total Rewards, an HR Business Partner within US retail, and is currently a Senior Recruiter, Talent Acquisition for the University Programs at Starbucks.

About her time with the Strategic Human Resource Management Center, Kim says “I loved my time in Madison and with the SHRM program. After gaining a variety of professional experiences in higher education administration prior to business school, I realized that I wanted more than just a job, but a career and that’s when I made the decision to return to school to obtain an MBA in an effort to increase my business acumen at the workplace. To this day, my decision to enroll in the program has been one of the best decisions I’ve made! From the insightful company visits with local executives, valuable capstone experiences, the vast networking opportunities, and epic tailgates and memorable football games at Camp Randall Stadium—I look back fondly on my experiences in graduate school as one that’s had a great impact on me both personally and professionally. Go Badgers!”
