Talicia Bashford is a seasoned professional with more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry. Currently serving as the Managing Director of the Midwest for Alera Group, Talicia plays a pivotal role in integrating national resources into regional operations, ensuring clients and colleagues receive strategic and innovative solutions tailored to their needs.
With a profound understanding of the insurance marketplace, Talicia remains at the forefront of trends, alternative solutions, insurance carriers, and market conditions, establishing herself as a trusted leader in the industry.
Talicia’s journey in insurance began more than 20 years ago as a producer and team leader at the Horton Group in Orland Park, IL. She then spent nine years with Assurance, initially leading small commercial, small benefits, and personal lines, before transitioning to a senior leadership role driving strategic solutions across the company. At Assurance, Talicia’s responsibilities included overseeing technology initiatives, leading geographic expansion, driving employee culture and engagement, and helping clients recognize the financial value of working with the company, transforming insurance into an investment rather than a commodity.
Throughout her extensive career, she has also held leadership positions as a local President at AssuredPartners of Chicago and Chief Operating Officer at Associated Agencies.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Talicia contributes to the industry as a member of the Wisconsin School of Business External Advisory Board and various commercial insurance advisory boards. She has also spoken on various panels and presented on the topics of technology in the insurance industry, thinking differently about client needs, and employee engagement.
Talicia holds a double major in Risk & Insurance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, underpinning her expertise with a solid academic foundation. Her dedication, industry knowledge, and leadership skills continue to drive success and innovation in the insurance sector.
