With Wisconsin roots and a passion for data, MSBA alum Carson Batchelor is a proud Double Badger leveraging his degrees post-grad. After completing his undergraduate degree in data science, Carson was eager to spend another year in Madison learning how analytics apply to a business setting through the Master’s in Business Analytics program. Graduating in 2025, Carson launched his career with a role as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Continental Properties and reflects on how the MSBA program impacted his success.

In his current role, Carson supports the business through data modeling, creating dashboards, and deriving insights that inform strategic and operational decisions. Turning data into clear, actionable recommendations is a skill Carson honed during his time as an MSBA student.

Although he did not have prior analytics job experience before the program, the technical data science background from his undergraduate studies built a strong foundation. “The MSBA program taught me how to translate analytics into strategic insight, directly shaping my transition into a Business Intelligence role at Continental Properties,” he shares.

Real-World Readiness

Carson found the program’s emphasis on state-of-the-art analytics tools and platforms especially impactful. Learning modern tools in a hands-on environment allowed him to immediately apply new techniques in his career, noting that “the capstone experience stood out, as it pushed me to apply technical skills to real business problems and helped solidify my transition into a professional analytics role.”

Stay Curious

To current and prospective students, Carson emphasizes the importance of curiosity. “Dig into the data, experiment with the tools, and always connect your work back to real business decisions.” For him, the program was not just about strengthening technical skills, but about enhancing his business perspective and learning how to drive meaningful change throughout his career.

We are proud to celebrate Carson’s journey at the University of Wisconsin and look forward to seeing how he continues to grow as an analytics professional.
