After over six years of exceptional service as Associate Director of the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate, Greg Reed will be stepping down effective January 2, 2026.

During his tenure, Greg led the Real Estate Graduate Program with enthusiastic dedication and success, guiding many important initiatives that have strengthened the Center’s world-class reputation—including its top rankings in U.S. News & World Report. His role was both broad and vital: overseeing recruiting, advising, and career services for the Real Estate MBA and MS Programs while working with the Graaskamp Center team to expand the Center’s role in applied learning and student support.

Among his many accomplishments, Greg was instrumental in the growth of the new Real Estate MS Program, leveraging his strong relationships and approachable style to achieve outstanding conversion rates from “accepted” to “enrolled” students. He also built and strengthened important collaborations within the WSB, the Wisconsin Athletic Department and across the UW-Madison campus; and he partnered with the Graaskamp Center team and the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA) to help launch the innovative Real Estate Private Equity (REPE) Track. Sensing an unmet need, he also helped launch the Graaskamp Center tutoring program for undergraduate and graduate students for their real estate coursework.

In addition to his administrative leadership, Greg served as advisor to the Real Estate Club, a role that involved countless hours leading field trips to Denver (three), Charlotte, Boston, and Newport Beach, attending countless Real Estate Club meetings, and helping to coordinate Real Estate Club  sponsored career fairs. His tireless commitment to student engagement has had a lasting impact on hundreds of students, providing them with direct exposure to industry professionals and career opportunities.

Reflections from Former Students

  • Mike Maskalunus, a former Badger football player and Real Estate MS (’23) said, “Greg played a huge role in my professional growth. Thanks to his guidance and network, I was able to land my dream job in Chicago after graduation. I’ll always be grateful for the impact he’s had on my career — and even more so for the example he sets as a genuinely great person.”
  • Thomas Derr (MS ‘22):  “Greg Reed was the most impactful resource during my masters program. From the introduction/orientation days prior to the actual start of classes through graduation, Greg always was proactive with students regarding their engagement in the real estate program.  Greg is relentless in his efforts with job placement and students’ academic success.  I think most students have times of struggle with courses or professional advancement, and Greg is their first contact to address concerns and achieve success.”
  • Caitlin Schlesinger (MS ‘22): “Our associate director, Greg Reed, provided me with valuable and encouraging career advice. When I began my master’s program, I was unsure of which career path I wanted to take. Greg helped me focus on my professional strengths and gave me incredible insight into the many career options that are available within real estate, which helped me eventually find a job that is a perfect fit for me.”

A double Badger, with a BA in Political Science and MS in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Greg’s passion for the Wisconsin Real Estate Program and Badger sports runs deep. Known for his warmth, humor, and dedication to student success, Greg is also a great course instructor who values student curiosity and engagement, always ready to provide encouragement and thoughtful advice.

Graaskamp Center Director Jacques Gordon shared, “The Graaskamp Center’s world-class reputation thrived under Greg’s leadership. His dedicated leadership, unwavering commitment to excellence, and genuine passion for the growth of our students have left a lasting mark on our Center. His impact will continue to resonate within these halls and well beyond.”

Lee Gottschalk, Associate Director of Outreach for the Graaskamp Center, added, “Greg’s many contributions to the Wisconsin Real Estate Program will continue for years to come. Through his professionalism, compassion, and dedication, he supported and inspired countless students—helping them launch successful careers in real estate. His commitment to students, alumni, board members, and staff is reflected in the enduring relationships he’s cultivated. Greg is a wonderful colleague, and we will all miss his generosity of spirit, his witty and memorable ‘Greg-isms,’ and his amazing dedication.

“Greg has made an indelible impact on the Center and the Real Estate Program. His visionary and trusted leadership has truly transformed the entire program. We will forever be grateful for his dedication, sincerity, humor, as well as the engagement he provided to students beyond the classroom. It has been my honor and privilege to work alongside such a genuine and respected colleague,” Genie Trewyn, Assistant Director for the Graaskamp Center, added.
