My MBA Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program, which started in August 2019, is moving towards the end. I still remember when I first arrived in Madison two years ago, but it’s already time to leave.
What I gained from the RMI program was leadership, theoretical and practical experience in risk management, interaction with inclusive faculty and alumni, and life in beautiful Madison.
The projects I conducted as the MBA Core Team and RMI’s small group classes were excellent experiences for leadership. In particular, developing topics for the Advisory Board Meeting and facilitating the meeting was great training to cultivate my leadership. Specialized classes such as Risk Analytic & Behavioral Science and Machine Learning provided practical and professional knowledge.
Interacting with great faculty and alumni has become a valuable asset. Classes were interactive where students could communicate with the faculty, and were opportunities to share real-world experiences of alumni. I could feel that I was growing up with enthusiastic faculty and active students.
Another meaningful harvest was having a happy time with my family in Madison. My family was able to get a sense of stability and comfort from Madison’s outstanding natural environment and inclusive people. I will never forget the moments when I walked looking at the beautiful Lake Mendota.
If you are an international student considering joining UW-Madison’s MBA program, I can affirm that you will be proud of your choice. As an international student, I have experienced being a member of UW-Madison in a warm and respectful relationship. The RMI program provided the foundation for my growth as a risk manager with leadership. I experienced not only traditional risk management theory but also recent risk management issues, and I was able to develop problem-solving skills through challenging projects and mentoring from alumni working in the field.
