Wisconsin Invitational Consulting Case Competition

Are you ready to showcase your consulting skills and compete against the best? Join teams from the nation’s top undergraduate business schools to compete in the second annual Wisconsin Invitational Consulting Case Competition hosted by the Wisconsin School of Business at UW-Madison.

This year’s event will take place March 20–21, 2026, right in the heart of March Madness—where strategic thinking and competitive spirit collide. You’ll work your way through the case competition bracket while keeping up with the basketball brackets. We’re embracing the madness with game-viewing areas, bracket challenges, and themed activities so you won’t miss a moment of the action.


Participating teams will have the opportunity to:

  • Compete in front of a panel of judges
  • Network with top consulting employers such as Accenture, Deloitte, and more
  • Benefit from case interview and recruiting preparation
  • Win team prize money up to $4,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place and $1,000 for fourth place

Applications open December 1.

Team Requirements

  • Teams should be made up of four undergraduate business or consulting students.
  • Teams are required to have a staff contact from their school’s career center. This staff will serve as a point of contact for our team to connect with regarding event communications, post-event photos, prize money documentation and distribution information.
  • Ability to travel in-person to Madison, Wisconsin, March 20-21, 2026.

To apply, please confirm all above requirements are met. Have the following readily available to complete the application:

  • All four team members’ contact information including: 
    • Name, email, preferred pronouns, anticipated graduation date, majors
  • Career Services professional staff contact
    • Name, email, title/department
  • Combined PDF of all team members’ resumes
    • Please note that resumes will be shared with event sponsors as they are submitted
  • Short answer response to the following two questions: 
    • What motivates your team to represent your school in front of top consulting employers at this competition?
    • Please describe previous case competition experience that the members of your team have. 

Applications will open December 1.

 

Venue

Due to ongoing construction at Grainger Hall, all event activities will be held at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and Union South.

Travel Schedule

Please plan your travel accordingly to accommodate the following times:

  • Friday, March 20, plan to check-in for the event at the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery between 5:00 – 6:30 pm.
  • Saturday, March 21, the event ends at 5:00 pm. Union South is approximately 30 minutes away from the Dane County Airport.

Lodging

A one night stay will be provided to each traveling competing team at the Wisconsin Union Hotel, conveniently located in Union South.

  • Check-in: Friday, March 20
  • Check-out: Saturday, March 21
  • Rooms provided will have two-queen beds, for up to four guests. Additional rooms may be reserved for each team, but must be booked individually and will not be covered by the Invitational.

Meals

All meals will be provided including dinner Friday, March 20; breakfast, lunch and an appetizer reception on Saturday, March 21.

Parking

Parking may be requested by competing traveling teams in the acceptance form. Up to one parking voucher will be provided to each team as requested for the Union South parking lot.

Employer Showcase | Friday, March 20 | 5:00 – 6:30 pm

During the Employer Showcase you will have a change to network with sponsors in a career-fair style event. Each sponsor will be tabling and available to discuss consulting career pathways at their respective companies, personal career journeys, recruiting, etc. This portion of the Invitational will be open to all competing teams and all Wisconsin School of Business students.

1:1 Coffee Chats | Saturday, March 21 | 8:00 am – 11:00 am

You will have the opportunity to connect 1:1 with sponsor representatives through Coffee Chats. This opportunity is only available for competing teams.

Welcome Dinner and Tailgate Reception

Sponsors will be seated with you during the Welcome Dinner, Friday night. Come prepared to network with them in a unique dining setting. On Saturday afternoon open networking will take place during the Tailgate Reception. Use this time to get in last-chance conversations and connections.

Case Interview Prep Workshop | Saturday, March 21 | 11:30 am – 12:00 pm

Join Wisconsin School of Business professor, Tom Burkard (Erdman Center Director of Consulting) for a workshop to review all aspects of a case interview. This workshop is recommended for participants who are new to case interviewing.

Friday, March 20 | 5:00 – 6:30 pm

During the Employer Showcase sponsors have a chance to connect with top business students in a career-fair style event. Each sponsor will have a tabling opportunity and students will navigate the room to network. Sponsors should be prepared to discuss consulting career pathways at their respective companies, personal career journeys, recruiting, etc. This portion of the Invitational will be open to all competing teams and all Wisconsin School of Business students.

 

Saturday, March 21 | 8:00 am – 11:00 am

Sponsors will have the opportunity to connect 1:1 with students through Coffee Chats. This opportunity is only available for competing teams.

Judging opportunities are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Judging will be confirmed with your sponsorship registration.

First Round | Saturday, March 21 | 8:00 am – 11:00 am

As a judge you will work with other sponsor representatives and score up to five team presentations during the first round. After presentations, judges will debrief to select the top teams to present in the final round. One judge from each room will be nominated to participate in the final round of judging.

Final Round | Saturday, March 21 | 12:15 – 2:15 pm

Final round presentations are open to the entire Invitational audience. The final round of judging will be limited to one representative from each sponsor, with no more than four judges. Following the final presentations, guests will participate in a Tailgate Reception while judges debrief to select the top four teams.

Parking

Parking in Union South will be provided on both Friday and Saturday for sponsors if requested at least three weeks in advance (February 27). If requested later than February 27, parking in Union South is not guaranteed but parking vouchers for other ramps may be available.

Hotel stays for sponsors are not included in any sponsorship level. There are many hotels on or near campus.
