Suzy Dawood, a 2023 graduate of the Master’s in Business Analytics program, is using data analytics to make a difference in her role with Tony’s Chocolonely. Suzy shares how the program shaped the trajectory of her professional career and how she is continuing to uphold the pillars of the MSBA program.
Creating New Pathways
While earning her undergraduate degree in Marketing at the Wisconsin School of Business, Suzy got limited experience with data analytics in the classroom. She explains how an internship exposed her to the world of possibilities available to those with data proficiency. Inspired to explore these opportunities and extend her time as a Badger, Suzy was drawn to the Wisconsin School of Business MSBA program. She explains “the MSBA program allowed me to compliment my love for marketing and business with a technical skillset that could launch me to the next level career wise.”
Making Data Meaningful
Now, Suzy makes an impact in her dynamic role as a strategy analyst for Tony’s Chocolonely, helping them carry out their mission to end exploitation in cocoa. Originally a Dutch chocolate brand, Tony’s Chocolonely has a small team in the US. With rapidly growing sales, Suzy contributes by “taking various types of data and building reports/analyzing it to influence different decisions while also taking on different ad hoc data related projects.” Specifically, she works with first- and third-party sales, financial, register and panel data. “Most recently, I’ve also been working on a data warehousing project with a team in Amsterdam where my MSBA skills have really shone through,” she shares.
Learning by Doing
Suzy explains the project-based learning aspect of her Wisconsin School of Business educational experience is what stands out most. It wasn’t until she entered the professional workforce that she realized how similar day-to-day tasks are to the projects she worked on during her studies. On the MSBA Consulting Capstone: “I learned so many practical skills, from the consulting bootcamp at the beginning, to learning how to work effectively with my team, managing 8GB of data, and delivering the final presentation.”
To current and future students looking to excel post-graduation, Suzy encourages taking advantage of all the program’s benefits. Engaging with professors, classmates and employers is something highly encouraged and always accessible through MSBA community building and professional development events. Suzy attests to the strong network of WSB alumnus as being a great resource for students to utilize!
