Congratulations, newly minted Business Badgers! The Wisconsin School of Business held its commencement ceremony for undergraduate students on May 9 at the Alliant Energy Center’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison. More than 870 undergraduate business students were on record to graduate this year from the school.
“You are joining a network of Business Badgers around the world who are trusted to lead because of their unique blend of Midwestern values and global influence,” WSB’s Albert O. Nicholas Dean Vallabh “Samba” Sambamurthy wrote to the Class of 2025 in his Message from the Dean prior to the ceremony. “I am confident the companies, organizations, and communities you’ll be joining after graduation will be better because of your contributions.”
Opening remarks were given by Dani Bauer, Hickman-Larson Chair in Actuarial Science, and Jim Franzone, associate dean of the undergraduate program, highlighted student achievements.
Marketing and Management student Corinne Wright (BBA ’25), delivered an inspiring student address to the assembled soon-to-be graduates and their families.
“You don’t need to compete when you’re already in your own lane,” said Wright of the pressures of society and social media in particular. Much of her speech emphasized the importance of being one’s authentic self—and of finding supportive others who can do and be the same.
“I encourage you to move with intention, but not in silence. Be unapologetically yourself—and be a little extra—because a bit much can lead to much more.”
