This week we are excited to spotlight one of our wonderful MSBA student athletes, Danni Langseth!
Originally from Wausau Wisconsin, Danni has been a business Badger since undergrad, receiving her BBA in Management, Marketing, and Spanish for Business. Danni has also spent her time at UW competing in varsity track and field, specializing in shot put, weight, and discus. Danni’s passionate and intentional outlook is courtesy of her experience as a student athlete. “Learning how to balance a life with extensive personal, athletic, and academic demands has allowed me to thrive in high-pressure, competitive environments,” she shares.

Discovering Analytics
As an undergraduate, Danni took a course in marketing research, working on a project conducting quantitative analysis of a representative student population and delivered actionable recommendations to University Housing based on undergrad housing needs. This sparked her love for analytics and she was thrilled to learn with the MSBA marketing track, she would be able to blend this with her passion for marketing.
Learning That Builds
The program and coursework has already stood out to Danni. She notes, “I appreciate how the courses build on one another and are deeply interconnected. The instructors start with the fundamentals before moving into deeper theory. This approach helps me grasp the big picture before diving into the nuances.” Specifically in her Cloud Technology class, Danni shares she’s explored the history and purpose of cloud computing, gotten hands-on experience with AWS and has “developed skills in S3 for storage, schema creation in Redshift data warehouses, and statistical exploration in SageMaker.”
Looking Ahead
With an eye on a future in marketing analytics and using data to deeply understand consumer behavior, Danni feels the program will equip her with the confidence and skills to pursue a role in data science, even without a technical undergraduate degree. “In the age of AI, I believe that professionals who don’t embrace analytics will be left behind, and I know that honing these skills will make me a more effective marketer,” she shares. To those considering MSBA, Danni says, “I think this program can intimidate those who don’t see themselves as ‘data science nerds,’ but it’s designed to prepare students for the real world, whether their first job is technical or not.”
The program is thrilled to have you, Danni, and we can’t wait to see how you continue to inspire!
