Remote Learning Support Services

During this period when instruction is remote due to COVID-19, many UW-Madison Learning Support Services are still available in a remote format. They are here to support you and help you continue to achieve academic and career success. You can find a large list of Learning Support Services and how you can remotely connect.

Some highlights that might be useful to you as Business Students

Business Learning Center

  • Services Continued: Practice questions, virtual presentation of practice questions either live or on Kaltura, recorded in either case. BB Collaborate office hours.  The BLC supports: Econ 101, Econ 102, AIS 100, AIS 211, AIS 300, Fin 300, GB 306, and GB 307.
  • Delivery Method: Each BCL TA is using the same method used by their course instructor (either Kaltura or BB Collaborate) for content delivery. Office hours will be on BB Collaborate

  • Services Discontinued: None
  • New Students Accepted: Yes

Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS)

  • Services Continued: Drop-in and Academic Match programs;  Study Skills appointments (also available through McBurney); and conversational language tutoring through Conversational English, Foreign Language Learners, and Language Exchange programs are continuing in an online format beginning on March 30
  • Delivery Method: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is the primary and preferred platform

  • Services Discontinued: Conversational English Eagle Heights
  • New Students Accepted: Drop-in tutoring, starting April 2.  Study Skills appointments, starting March 30.

Writing Center

  • Services Continued: One-to-one writing instruction; weekly writing groups; selected workshops
  • Delivery Method: One-to-one sessions will be converted to email and Skype; writing groups will meet synchronously via Google Docs and BlackBoard Collaborate; check website for updates on specific workshops

  • Services Discontinued: Madison Writing Assistance (free writing support for community members at local libraries and neighborhood centers)
  • New Students Accepted: Yes
