About Delphine
Dr. Delphine Fongang teaches GenBus 360 in the Business Communication Program at the Wisconsin School of Business. She holds a Ph. D in English Studies from Illinois State University and a B.A in English and M.A in Comparative Literature from the University of Buea, Cameroon.
She has taught internationally and in American universities for over two decades. Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she was an Assistant Professor of English at North Carolina Central University. Dr Fongang has extensive experience teaching a wide range of college writing courses from remedial and advanced to research seminars. Her focus in business communication classes is to demystify the acts of writing, speaking, and listening that are integral to workplace communication. She helps students envision effective communication as a process that involves prewriting, writing and rewriting strategies. She uses instructional practices such as collaboration, storytelling, workshops, peer reviews, and individual presentations to promote active learning and prepare students for written and spoken communication in the workplace.
Dr Fongang incorporates her research expertise as an Africanist into the teaching of business communication, preparing students as global leaders of tomorrow. She incorporates multicultural perspectives, DEI readings, and digital stories to emphasize the importance of inclusivity and cultural literacy in the workplace. Students learn how diversity and interpersonal communication are crucial for growth and productivity in the workplace.
Her commitment as a teacher is to teach business communication in dynamic ways that will remain with her students long after they leave her classroom.
