Stewart has almost 50 years of commercial real estate development, property management, syndication, brokerage, and leasing experience in the Wisconsin, Midwest and national marketplaces. He has been involved in over one billion dollars in real estate sales, including over $500 million of real estate development in the past 10 years, and has leased/managed nearly 5 million square feet of office property. As founder of Wangard Partners, Inc., he believes in creating valued partnerships by bringing together key stakeholders in the community to ensure a development’s success. Through Stewart’s leadership, the firm has experienced continual growth, gaining a reputation as one of the top developers in the region.

Stewart’s tenure at Kettle Moraine Hospital marked a pivotal chapter in his career. As a board member for eight years, his critical insights led to a collective board reorganization during a very challenging period. Demonstrating resilience and strategic acumen, Stewart, as the new board chairman, spearheaded the hospital’s restructuring and sale, and establishing the Kettle Moraine Foundation.
Building on this success, Stewart extended his expertise to the Genesis Behavioral Board, contributing significantly over three years. His impact was not limited to the boardroom; his dedication to community development is evident through his active participation in municipal committees and commissions in Wisconsin, including the Architectural Review, Planning Commission, and Board of Appeals in Oconomowoc.
Stewart’s ongoing participation with NAIOP (National Association of Industrial and Office Properties) reflects his growth and leadership progression. Stewart is a member of the Mixed-Use Forum and formerly served on the National NAIOP Corporate Board of Directors, the Tax and Finance subcommittee, Environmental Affairs and Infrastructure Subcommittee and the Transportation Subcommittee. These appointments allow Stewart to participate in roundtables that discuss national trending themes and research. Mr. Wangard serves on the Board of Directors for ThriveEd, a public-private partnership launched in 2016 which supports economic development efforts in Jefferson and Dodge counties, and a member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee. This knowledge leadership and mission makes Stu the go-to expert for urban, mixed-use, and brownfield development in southern Wisconsin.
