James Elkin is currently the Associate Category Manager for Global Fats & Oils at General Mills, Inc. (GMI) in Minneapolis, MN. In this role, James manages the North American Fats & Oils sourcing team which oversees end-to-end operations from Source to Pay processes, total value delivery, and risk mitigation strategies for the category. In addition to these responsibilities, James supports his global peers with Holistic Category Strategy creation/implementation, sustainability initiatives/commitments, and global supplier relationship management for the Fats & Oils category.
Prior to his current role, James was a Senior Buyer for North American Sweet Commodities, the North American Buyer for Functional Ingredients, and a Sourcing Operations Analyst supporting several commodity categories.
James graduated in 2020 from the Wisconsin School of Business with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations & Technology Management and a Specialization in Supply Chain Management from the Grainger Center. Outside of his day job, James helps lead Early Career Recruitment for GMI-Sourcing where he enjoys connecting with current students about life at GMI, and discussing both internship and full-time opportunities the organization has to offer.
