As my first semester as an MBA student comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on what led me to the Wisconsin School of Business, my experiences this semester, and what the future holds.
Landing at WSB
For me, choosing the Wisconsin School of Business wasn’t solely based on its impressive ranking as the #1 producer of Fortune 500 CEOs nor was it due to Princeton Review ranking it #5 in the U.S for best Marketing MBAs. It was the sense of commitment to the Wisconsin Idea that drew me in. Beyond being an academic powerhouse, the Wisconsin School of Business and Marketing Leadership Institute is dedicated to molding not just great students but outstanding leaders. From the passionate professors to the supportive student services and career management teams, everyone is driven by the mission to equip students (aka me) with the tools to better not just their future companies but communities as well. That’s the true Wisconsin difference and why I selected the Wisconsin School of Business.
Semester Experiences
The Marketing specialization and Marketing Leadership Institute (MLI) have afforded me some incredible opportunities of growth and learning this first semester. Through the MLI’s External Advisory Board, I’ve made amazing connections with leading companies in their respective fields. These connections have been invaluable and provided me with insights into real-world marketing challenges and strategies. Also, I’ve been able to participate in company-led case studies with representatives from industry giants such as Amazon, SC Johnson, Microsoft, Kimberly-Clark, and P&G. These experiences not only expanded my knowledge but allowed me to witness the practical application of the marketing principles I’m learning in the classroom.
One aspect of my semester that I’ve enjoyed the most has been the Marketing Leaders Live series where marketing leaders come and share their experiences in the field. The series has been enlightening, offering a glimpse into future career paths and the constantly changing field of marketing. Lastly, and most importantly, the true highlight of this semester has been the meeting, working, and learning with my fellow marketing students. Surrounded by some of the brightest minds, we’ve formed a community that constantly challenges and inspires each other. Together, we’ve created an environment where everyone is committed to mutual growth and excellence.
Forward
Looking ahead to next semester and beyond, I am excited to dive deeper into marketing alongside my peers and my summer internship. Beyond the classroom, I’m excited to embody the Wisconsin Idea by using my skills not only for personal success but also as a force for positive change in the broader community. Lastly, if you’re a prospective student or just want to know more about the Wisconsin School of Business and the Marketing Leadership Institute, lets connect!
