About Richard

I am ABD in Finance from Stanford University, Graduate School of Business. I also have a Master's in Statistics from Stanford, and was a double major in Applied Math and Economics from UC-Berkeley.

I have worked in Management Consulting and a Financial Management Startup, but the majority of my career has been in insurance. My insurance experience started on the health side with a division of HealthNet, then moved to property/casualty with CNA, Zurich, Allstate and Sentry.

I led Quantitative Analytics and Research at Allstate, and also spent time as the state manager of Allstate New Jersey, where I was responsible for the profitable growth of more than $1 billion in premium.

I created the Advanced Analtyics department at Sentry and led that for many years, before switching over to the UW-Madison Business School to teach.
