This year our Actuarial Program had its 5-year review and was once more reaffirmed as a Center of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) for the next 5 years. This last year was the second five-year renewal of our CAE status and was conducted virtually by a SOA-selected committee.
The CAE designation recognizes university programs that have met both quantitative and qualitative criteria related to degree(s) offered, curriculum, graduate count, faculty composition, graduate quality, appropriate integration with other areas of study, connection to industry, actuarial research, and professional involvement.
When the CAE program initially launched in 2009, UW-Madison was one of the original recipients. Every year we submit a renewal application to assess any potential substantial changes that could impact our CAE status. Every 5 years there is a more substantial review of our actuarial program (including a site visit by a committee selected by the SOA) to reaffirm our designation.
The renewal of our CAE designation is another reflection of our strong alumni, students, supporters, faculty, and staff who all play a vital role in our program’s success. Thank you.
