Vallabh “Samba” Sambamurthy, Albert O. Nicholas Dean of the Wisconsin School of Business, has been appointed to the international board of directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Founded in 1916, AACSB is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance, business education intelligence, and learning and development services to over 1,850 member organizations and more than 950 accredited business schools worldwide. Linking education, business, and society, AACSB drives change in priority areas such as accreditation standards, societal impact, leadership, and advocacy.

“It was my honor and pleasure to recommend Dean Vallabh Sambamurthy to the 2022–23 AACSB board of directors,” says McRae C. Banks, AACSB board chair and dean of the Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. “I have been impressed with his thoughtful approach to problems and solutions, and his grasp of the challenges facing business education. Obviously, the board members agreed with me. We look forward to his valuable contributions and expertise in the upcoming year.”

Sambamurthy will serve on four committees as part of his board appointment:

  • Innovation Committee, which helps to empower business education providers and their partners to move deeply, strategically, and successfully in pursuit of new opportunities that positively impact business and society.
  • Finance and Investment Committee, which provides oversight of AACSB’s financial condition and asset safeguarding.
  • Continuous Improvement Review Committee, which oversees processes for continuation of business accreditation to ensure consistency of accreditation standards application and equity of recommendations across teams and across programs reviewed.
  • Nominating Committee, which reviews nominees solicited from AACSB member organizations and selects the slate of candidates for all open AACSB officer and director positions.

“I am delighted and honored to be invited to serve on the board of directors of AACSB,” Sambamurthy says. “Not only is this an exciting opportunity to work with talented colleagues in shaping change at the most fundamental levels of higher education, but AACSB’s vision in many ways parallels what we are doing here at the Wisconsin School of Business.”

Sambamurthy will serve a three-year term through June 30, 2025.
