We are honored to share that Lu Han, Nathan F. Brand Chair Professor in Real Estate and Urban Economics; and Greg Reed, Associate Director, Graaskamp Center, were both selected as recipients of distinguished awards from the Wisconsin School of Business last Friday.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to the dedication, hard work, collaboration, and passion that Lu and Greg have poured into their work and the positive impact they have made on our students, the Wisconsin Real Estate Program, Wisconsin School of Business, UW-Madison and beyond.
Erwan A. Gaumnitz Distinguished Research Award: Lu Han, Nathan F. Brand Chair Professor in Real Estate and Urban Economics
Lu Hanhas distinguished herself as one of the pre-eminent Urban and Real Estate economists in the world. Her research focuses on three key aspects of urban economics and real estate: affordability, sustainability, and inequality. In order to understand these problems, she builds models with search and spatial frictions as well as considering behavioral biases. She currently serves as editor of Real Estate Economics, one of the top journals in her field. In the last five years she has published 4 articles in top journals like the Journal of Political Economy and the Review of Financial Studies along with a Revise and Resubmit at the Review of Economic Studies as well as 12 other articles in less than 20 years. Her pipeline of work-in-progress is truly outstanding. She has presented her work at all of the top universities and conferences in the world.
WSB Staff Recognition Award: Greg Reed, Associate Director, Graaskamp Center for Real Estate
The nomination for Greg highlights his strength in relationship-building, ability to integrate understanding of big-picture strategy with a keen attention to detail, and an overall dedication to WSB.
The specific achievements detailed in his nomination include contributing to increased graduate enrollment including an increased percentage of underrepresented minority students, managing an increased advising load while maintaining personal connection with students, and serving as the advisor for a student club. Greg has also worked to increase collaboration both within and outside of WSB. Such collaborations have led to meaningful student enrichment and co-curricular activities as well as travel and networking opportunities for students. The nomination for Greg details how he has shown a strong commitment to students, using words such as compassionate, proactive, inclusive, and supportive.
