The MS in Business Analytics alumni we are highlighting this month is Kate Madigan. Kate is originally from Western Springs, Illinois and she completed her undergrad at UW-Madison. Before joining the program, Kate had prior analytics experience with the undergraduate analytics courses (GenBus 306 and 307). Kate now works for PwC as a Cloud and Digital Technology Associate/Consultant.
Bridging the Gap
Kate says that the MSBA program introduced her to the interconnectedness of technology and business. She says,“it helped me recognize the value and importance of adopting a mindset that can leverage both [technology and business] simultaneously to more effectively problem solve.” She has found that this perspective has opened doors and opportunities where she can act as a liaison between technology and business, bridging the gap and facilitating collaboration between the two domains.
Lean In
For Kate, the most surprising thing about the program was “the plethora of social opportunities to engage with peers” and she found that “the program fostered an immensely supportive class of students.” To current and future students, Kate advises to “lean into the discomfort of both the new skills and tools you are learning but also into your future opportunities.” She encourages students to “embrace the challenge, step out of your comfort zone, and be open to the learning and adapting– the personal and professional growth will follow.”
