Staying calm when things get a little hectic is second nature for Wisconsin School of Business Senior Photographer Paul L. Newby II. A professional photojournalist for over two decades before joining WSB in 2015, his lens has captured everyone from boxer Floyd Mayweather to Prince to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
With a new dean, a historic Update magazine cover, and documenting newly minted graduates as they head out into the world with degrees in hand, it’s been a busy and impactful year, Newby says.
“Capturing precise moments in time as the WSB senior photographer has been very rewarding. From creating strong images of first-year students on day one to saying goodbye to students I have photographed throughout their time at WSB—watching them graduate and prepare for professional careers as future leaders—it’s gratifying. It has also been a pleasure getting to know and to photograph Dean Vallabh Sambamurthy as he embarked on his journey as WSB’s new Albert O. Nicholas Dean. Meeting students and creating storytelling images of them in their daily school lives, working and studying, as well as producing moving images of our alumni in top leadership positions with some of the biggest names in the business world, those are some my favorite parts of the job.”
