Luce Scholars Program: Internship Opportunity in Asia!

By BBA

September 24, 2020

The Luce Scholars Program provides a year’s internship in an Asian country related to the scholar’s interests. The program is designed to provide an extended period of exposure to an Asian country for highly qualified US citizens & permanent residents who lack extensive knowledge of Asian affairs and who would not gain this knowledge through their normal career trajectories. Any professional field will be considered, except Asian Affairs/Asian Studies. Graduating seniors, recent alumni, graduate students, and junior faculty and staff are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible, a nominee must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, under age 30 at the beginning the program, and hold at least a bachelor’s degree by June 20, 2021. Applicants should not have extensive engagement with Asian affairs (*). UW–Madison alumni do not have to be on campus to apply but must apply through the UW-Madison.

More details on the campus requirements and the application process are available.

The UW-Madison campus deadline is 10am on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

(*) For the purposes of LSP eligibility, “extensive engagement” means more than 18 weeks (total) in LSP countries (post-high school) or an Asian studies-related major. Students who have Asian studies-related minors, certificates, or coursework, shorter stays in LSP countries, and/or relevant language study (even multi-year study) ARE eligible to apply.
